What does Cannondale SI mean?
The clue is in the name: Cannondale has used the F designation for its hardtails for decades, while Si stands for system integration.
How do you remove a Shimano crank without a tool?
Simply place the crank extractor inside the crank bolt hole, rotating it clockwise until tight, before turning it counterclockwise so that the crank comes off. Remove the crank from the other side of the bike in the same manner and, voila, you’ll have officially removed your crankset just like that.
When should I replace my bike crank?
- The threads for the pedal get stripped/damaged to the point the pedal gets undone easily.
- The mating hole for the bottom bracket fretts and is no longer a good fit.
- Cracked crank arm – if the mating hole wears, and is retightened enough times, the crank arm slides too far onto the bottom bracket.
What is the difference between BB30 and BB30A?
The BB30A is similar to the BB30 standard, but the frame BB shell is 5mm wider on the non-drive side. BB30A system uses thin spacers and/or a wave washer between the bearings and the crank arms to take up any slack and micro-adjust the chainline of the crank.
Cannondale are the inventors of the BB30 bottom bracket standard. Over the years they have used PressFit30 in their carbon road and mountain bike frames to reduce the weight. Most recently, most of their frames follow the BB30A or PF30A standard, which is exclusive to Cannondale.
